What Makes us Different?

Our 25 years of social care experience, have taught us some fundamental principles in achieving success for looked after children and supporting foster carers in the tremendous work they do.

  • At Ascent Fostering, all our carers are valued, listened to and are key members in our team
  • We recognise that looking after children and young people who have suffered trauma and abuse, require nurturing and skilled carers. We equip all our carers for this task by offering an intensive Therapeutic Fostering course, as well as a comprehensive training package
  • Our professional team include a Child Therapist and Clinical Psychologist who work directly with our foster carers, offering therapeutic supervision, and therapy to young people.
  • All young people placed with our carers are assigned a personal mentor and can access a number of extra curricular clubs and activities via our partner agency, Reaching Higher

Reaching Higher

Reaching Higher are a London Youth Charity which provides a wide range of support to young people.  Reaching Higher partner with Ascent to provide additional services to the young people we work with.  The Reaching Higher team have received additional therapeutic training in working with looked after children and are able to use this to good effect in offering a wide range of options to young people placed with Ascent.

This includes the following opportunities for young people:

  • A therapeutically trained mentor
  • A weekly creative arts youth club including dance, drama and music
  • A weekly football academy
  • A 4-week summer scheme programme
  • An annual residential youth camp
  • Access to work experience programmes and skills development
  • Volunteer in the community and receive opportunities with positive contribution
